Avery Couture has been in the medical field for the past seventeen years. She completed her medical degree from American University of Integrated Sciences, School of Medicine in 2017 and became a Clinical Coordinator for the Cardiovascular Research Department at Kent Hospital in Warwick, RI. She is currently involved in trials by Novartis, Bayer, Amgen, and Astra-Zeneca studying the effects of medications in the treatment and prevention of cardiovascular disease.
Additionally, Avery carries a License in Massage Therapy from Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy, (1997), and received her master’s degree in clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from Salve Regina University in 2024. Avery completed her clinical training at F. R. Sparadeo and Associates, Clinical Neuropsychology and Health Psychology, in North Kingston RI, and joined the staff in 2024 as an individual and group counselor and clinician performing patient intake evaluations, presurgical evaluations, and chronic pain evaluations. Her clinical specialties include chronic disease, chronic pain, trauma, Motivational Interviewing, CBT, DBT, and she has recently developed the CARE MS program; A post-diagnostic program for patients with Multiple Sclerosis, alongside Dr. Frank Sparadeo.
Avery has been published in the Journal of Cellular Biology, and the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, for her work in skin and ovarian cancers, and has presented her work at RI-IDEA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence and RI-INBRE Network for Molecular Toxicology conferences. Avery was inducted into the Delta Epsilon Sigma national scholastic honor society and is a member of the American Counseling Association, the American Medical Association, and the American Medical Student Association. In 2013, she was awarded the Excellence in Volunteer Award, Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, RI, for her work within the Pet-Assisted Therapy program.
As an individual living with Multiple Sclerosis, Avery brings her unique background, medical training, and experience as both a patient and a clinician into her counseling practice.
