Dr. Karp is a postdoctoral fellow in clinical neuropsychology and manages many of the day to day operations of Sparadeo & Associates under Dr. Sparadeo's supervision.

Dr. Andrew Karp is a postdoctoral fellow in clinical neuropsychology at Sparadeo & Associates. He earned his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Neuropsychology from William James College. Dr. Karp completed advanced clinical training in neuropsychology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School within the Departments of Ambulatory Psychiatry and Cognitive Neurology. During his residency at the Nebraska-Western Iowa VA Healthcare System, he specialized in the assessment of traumatic brain injury (TBI), ADHD, and neurodegenerative disorders, including dementia. Additionally, he provided evidence-based psychotherapy for combat veterans with posttraumatic stress disorder, collaborated with multidisciplinary teams in a primary care hospital setting, and treated individuals in a residential inpatient substance abuse program.

 

Dr. Karp’s clinical interests include the assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders such as ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and learning disabilities; the differential diagnosis of dementia; the cognitive impacts of psychiatric conditions; and the evaluation of TBI. His scholarly contributions include published manuscripts and conference presentations on topics such as mental health stigma, automated cerebral assessment, social cognition, brain injury, and chronic pain.

 

Dr. Karp holds board certification in the administration of neuropsychological testing through the Board of Certified Psychometrists. Before pursuing his doctoral studies, he earned a master’s degree in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling from Salve Regina University, where he developed a keen interest in the cognitive and behavioral effects of chronic health conditions such as TBI. Dr. Karp is also a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and has applied this expertise to support the operations of a community-based residential program serving individuals with moderate to severe TBI.

 

In his free time, Dr. Karp enjoys spending time with his wife and their two dogs, Charles and Jasper, who are occasional visitors to the office. He is an avid tennis player, a loyal Boston Celtics fan, and a pizza enthusiast.
